Chaos Rules: Simulating Analog
In my Music Production Podcast interview with Brian Funk, we discussed various methods for making digital synths sound more “analog”.
Part of the sound of a true analog synth comes from its sonic idiosyncrasies. Variations from note to note, oscillator drift, and tuning inaccuracies all contribute to the character of vintage synths.
In this sound design tutorial, I explore methods of simulating the behavior of analog using softsynths and digital hardware.
